Andy Reid’s An Asshole
Sorry for the obscenities folks but it was either asshole or doo doo head. *laughs* I wish that headline read Andy Reid’s Fired. What kind of a coach placed the blame for a loss solely on the shoulders of one player? A player whose 6-year-old child was just diagnosed with ovarian cancer no less?
I’m not a football fan. I don’t know how many points kicking a football will earn you. I don’t know how many downs you get or what they mean. Hell, I just recently found out that touchdowns don’t actually earn you 7 points but instead 6. Who knew you had to kick the ball after running it all the way down the field to actually get the full 7 points? Go figure.
Even though I’m not a football fan I’ve always rooted for the home team to win. I think it’s good for the city when our sports teams are doing well and I love to see the fans happy. The Eagles organization and their fans lost my goodwill when they hired Michael Vick and cast their support behind a dog killer then patted themselves on the back for being such good citizens for offering this scumbag a second chance. *gags*
Everything I’ve heard on the sports news seemed to indicate that Donovan McNabb had a habit of choking under pressure so I wasn’t too emotionally invested when he was traded. I did however feel bad for Kevin Kolb being pushed to the side in order to let Vick be the star quarterback. Like I said I’m not a football fan and the addition of Vick made me even less interested in the Eagles so this didn’t really strike an emotional chord with me either.
Enter Andy Reid’s big mouth. This latest story about Andy Reid disrespecting David Akers whilst throwing him under the bus after the Eagles’ loss to the Packers makes me sick to my stomach. I honestly can’t believe Andy Reid of all people would do such a thing. I wonder how he’d have felt a few years ago while he was going through problems with his son, who was addicted to drugs, if after a losing game one of his players said, “We can all count and those points would have helped.” in reference to plays he called during the game. I’d bet he’d have felt like he’d just been punched in the stomach much like I’d suppose Akers felt.
Seriously. What’s wrong with people? This win at all costs; don’t care who you shit on, on your way to the top or who you use to get you there mentality makes me sick. Hire and make into a hero a dog killer because he can make touchdowns? Sure! Bring him on. We’ll take him and praise him for his athletic ability while looking the other way about his past torturing and murder of dogs. Sour grapes because you lost the big game? Time to throw your player under the bus. Yep. Sure. (They say this behavior is unlike Reid. So why start now?)
How in the hell can Andy Reid sleep at night knowing that he’s just thrown one of his players under the bus all the while knowing that his child was just diagnosed with cancer? He came out. He played the game (and that’s all it is, a game) and the TEAM lost. Whatever happened to teams being a family? Whatever happened to having one another’s backs? I’ve not seen any of the Eagles players or coaching staff say anything but complimentary things about Vick. How is it that David Akers doesn’t deserve the same respect?
I swear to God I hope the Eagles lose every game next season. I hope they’re 0 and however many games the season lasts. I hope someone hires David Akers away from the Eagles and that team wins the Super Bowl.
I don’t know how long Andy Reid’s been with the team but it seems to me that the Eagles haven’t won a Super Bowl in recent memory. We can all count and it seems there are no Super Bowl rings to count.
