Due to my chagrin at yesterday’s unmitigated disaster (no, that photo is definitely not on this page) and inspired in part by the two most recent CY365 podcasts I decided to go off the prompt list today and just go back to the basics. Today’s photo is an exercise in working with light metering (center-weighted), good light (diffused with a piece of white felt over a lamp) and good composition. I shot this from several different angles and several different heights. This photo was taken from a little to the left with my camera sitting on top of a box so that the lens was fairly dead on with the doll’s face. The only editing done to this photo is a crop and this is only because part of my tan kitchen wall wound up in the photo and well tan really just didn’t go with the photo’s color scream. :)
Today’s theme was Open Possibilities, since this is the beginning of a new year and I’ve set some photography goals for the coming year I chose to focus on the possibilities aspect of today’s theme. Today’s photo is is a long exposure shot of an R2D2 action figure, it’s composited with another shot to create this image. I’m currently working on learning long exposures.
