Day 10 — Habit
Me and the hubs are birders and we have made a habit of visiting the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge a few times a month since we first found our way there in June. Our goal for 2014 was to see a Bald Eagle and wild turkeys. We actually did see both in 2014 but neither sighting produced a useable photo (oh boy they sure weren’t). With news of a Snowy Owl sighting and lots of Bald Eagles congregating around the scarce open water we made our way down to Refuge in the hopes of seeing the rare Snowy Owl and perhaps also spotting a Bald Eagle or two. And so today, I finally got my first semi decent shot of a Bald Eagle. Standing out in the bitter cold talking to a fellow birder I finally got a useable shot of a Bald Eagle! As an added bonus we got to see a beautiful winter sunset. It was so worth the cold feet. Note to self: Comfy sneakers are not warm sneakers.
