If you don’t want to be spoiled about the new Batman movie
STOP READING HERE.
…. do be do be do … yadda … yadda … yadda …. do be do be do ….
you’ve been warned … this means you … yeah, you … read further at your own risk.
Moving on …
We saw Batman in theater 9. (yeah, that didn’t have me thinking all kinds of bad things right from the get go. no, not at all.)
First off 2 hours and 45 minutes of noise and violence is a bit much in my book.
Maybe I’m older now, maybe I’m more conservative now, maybe the horrific massacre in CO was still fresh in my head, but the writer apparently overdosed on the Occupy Wall Street movement manifesto. The villain, Bane says he is taking over Gotham to give it back to the little people, which he so totally isn’t. There is however, a lot of talk of restoring the balance & Gotham’s day of reckoning. To use their words, a storm is coming.
As the movie progresses Bane’s minions round up the rich folks taking them from their apartments and lining them up to be tried and sentenced which looked a lot like what I imagine the Nazis rounding up the Jews looked like; too much so for my comfort.
Of course hope & goodness triumph in the end but by that time I was so weary of the previous 2 hours and 40 minutes of revenge-fueled destruction and violence that it was too little too late for happily ever after.
In the interest of fairness and honesty it should be noted here that I was the only member of my party who hated the movie. Everyone else loved it.
