Day 362
Today was the day. My sutures and my stitches came out this morning, 28 days after surgery. And not a moment too soon either. Things were starting to feel tight and quite uncomfortable, especially the stitch at the base of my head and neck.
Dr. Matthews’ nurse Rosemary actually removed the sutures and the stitches from my head and back. She was quite a bit more gentle and took her time removing this set of stitchery so there was no pain and I was much more at ease. I really like Rosemary. She’s a good addition to Dr. Matthews’ posse.
Everything looks good and Dr. Matthews is pleased with my progress. She gave me the go ahead to go back to cleaning and doing laundry and I can now pick up things that are heavier than 5 pounds. (though it’s not as if I were juggling bowling balls before surgery.) She also gave me the go ahead to start physical therapy. I’m for all intents and purposes a leftie and not being able to do much with my left arm is a bit of a drag and quite a bit frustrating. We have to find out from our insurance which physical therapy locations they allow and then we’ll pick a location from there.
I have to be back in two weeks so Dr. Matthews can check my progress. All in all, a good day.
Love,
