Day 231
Today I had my second follow-up appointment with my oncologist, Dr. Hughes. It was my first medical appointment since seeing my neurosurgeon, Dr. Bussey. Of course the MRI results didn’t magically change in the two weeks since then but Dr. Hughes put it this way, I’ll likely never have a normal scan again. All the damage the cancer, surgery and radiation have done altered that area. She also remarked that it was my first scan since the end of my radiation treatments. I have to have blood work and another MRI in mid October then see Dr. Hughes at the end of October.
My nurse, Pat and Dr. Hughes are very happy with all the healing on my head. I passed all the neurological tests, she looked in my eyes and ears and mouth and felt my face and neck and back. She said I’m doing well and that I’m just going to have to keep following up with her and Dr. Heymann and Dr. Bussey to keep an eye on everything. Dr. Hughes by far has a better bedside manner than Dr. Bussey and I was in a better place because I’ve had 2 weeks to digest all the info. Today was a much more positive experience. So I’m still not cancer free but then again I’m still not not cancer free either. So now we wait and we hope. I’m not good with uncertainty but I suppose if you look at life realistically nothing is certain no matter how healthy or sick you are.
Thank you for all of your kind words, comments and prayers. They are all very much appreciated. I love you all, thanks for stopping by every day.
With much love and great affection,
~ Carol Anne
