Day 144
And, the side effects begin. Well technically they began on Friday, but I awoke this morning to a new blister on the other side of my head. Some time during the day a blister developed inside my bottom lip. My Oncologist was not in the office today so my weekly appointment was again with her colleague. He and the nurse who bandaged my head today seemed to imply that there will be more where that came from. My one side where the problematic skin graft is tissue thin and red.
So here I am watching Anderson Cooper 360 as I type tonight’s blog he just talked to a woman searching through the rubble of her mother’s house, her childhood home in Joplin, MO. Her home survived the tornado but her workplace was badly damaged, she doesn’t know if she still has a job. She is wearing a shirt that reads Life is Good, she said, “God doesn’t hand us more than we can handle.” *shakes head* That there is a strong, faithful, courageous woman. A few blisters don’t seem so bad when you take into account the suffering those in the middle of the country are going through. Folks in Alabama, Louisiana, and Missouri have lost everything. Really brave men and women ran toward the suffering and are there digging through the rubble to save those who can be saved and recover those who cannot not.
There are warning sirens going off in Joplin signaling an approaching storm and possible tornado. Tonight I’m grateful that all those who I love are where they belong, our two kitties are safe and cozy at home with us and I’m alive and tonight my biggest problem is a few blisters. If you’re of the praying variety say a few for those in the path of storms weather-related or otherwise.
Thanks for stopping by every day. I love you all.
With great love & much affection,
~ Carol Anne
You have such a wonderful outlook on life. Now you understand that statement that I made to you on our first phone call. “Hey, gotta go, the tornado sirens are going off.” It amazes me the destruction that some people are having to sift through to find pieces of their life. You will get through the blisters and the radiation and you will shine just as you have always done. I am going to send you a link of a song that my friend Jason sang with his old band. I think you could use the lyrics right about now. It’s called Shine. I love you my friend. Keep up the great work!!!
